My name is Nicole. I specialize in helping children with dyslexia and other reading challenges become confident, capable readers through personalized instruction using the Orton-Gillingham Approach. The Orton-Gillingham Approach is grounded in both time-tested educational practice and modern scientific research. Its content and methods are informed by more than 80 years of validated experience, along with current evidence on how individuals learn to read and write. This research-based framework explores why some students struggle with reading, how dyslexia impacts literacy development, and which instructional practices most effectively support reading and writing proficiency.

Orton-Gillingham is a direct, explicit, multi-sensory, and structured approach to teaching reading, writing, and spelling. It was specifically designed for individuals with dyslexia and others for whom learning to read does not come easily. Unlike a scripted reading program, Orton-Gillingham is an individualized approach that addresses reading, spelling, vocabulary, and comprehension in a way that adapts to each learner’s needs.

I create lessons for my students that are sequential and diagnostic meaning my instruction builds step by step while continuously responding to remaining challenges and progress.

My private practice in Narragansett, RI, offers a warm, supportive environment where evidence-based instruction and encouragement come together to build lasting literacy skills and renewed confidence in learning. For more than two decades, I’ve worked as a Special Education Teacher and Certified Orton Gillingham Practitioner in Rhode Island’s public and private schools. My mission is to shine a light on the importance of supporting learners with learning differences and, if needed, to share mindfulness practices that bring greater ease and balance to children, teens, and adults navigating anxiety.
